The legislature not only frames policies and amends the Constitution but through the standing committees, monitors the work of the executive, keeps track of the finances and expenditure, suggests new initiatives, and maintains documentation of past actions and initiatives for future reference. The expansion in the power of our legislature is a huge step towards making our politics more reasoned, deliberative, incremental, and non-arbitrary.
